Radiological Reports and Police Clearance Certificates – New DHA Directives

Breytenbachs have good news for our SA Immigration clients from the Department of Home Affairs (DHA) in South Africa on Radiology Waivers.

From 11 April 2023, the following two new regulations came into effect. The new regulations will benefit temporary and permanent residency applications.

It is no longer necessary for temporary residence visa applicants and permanent residence visa applicants to submit a radiological report.

Temporary residence visa applicants and permanent residence visa applicants only have to submit a police clearance certificate if the applicant returned to the country for 12 months or longer during the five years proceeding the date of application.

Thus, in short, applicants no longer have to submit a radiological or medical report. Also, the period for submitting a police clearance certificate is reduced.

How will the new regulations on the Radiology Waivers and Police Clearance Certificates benefit SA Immigration clients?

The waiver of the requirement for radiological reports is expected to simplify the visa application process and reduce the burden on applicants. It will also help to reduce costs for applicants who would otherwise have to pay for radiological examinations.

The extension of the period for submitting police clearance certificates will benefit applicants who may experience delays in obtaining the certificates due to administrative or logistical issues. It will also provide applicants with more flexibility in planning their visa application process.

Overall, the new regulations introduced by the DHA represent a positive step forward in streamlining the visa application process. It will also reduce the burden on applicants. The waiver of the requirement for radiological reports and the extension of the period for submitting police clearance certificates will make it easier for applicants to obtain visas to travel to South Africa for work, study, or other purposes.
