Immigration Rules Appendix Visitor: Transit Without Visa Scheme

The UK Transit Without Visa (TWOV) Scheme allows visa nationals to transit through the UK without a visa, provided that specific conditions are met. This scheme applies to those travelling to or from destinations such as the USA, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. To qualify, travellers must arrive and depart by air, have confirmed onward travel, leave the UK by 23:59 the day after arrival, and demonstrate assured entry to their destination and any transit countries. Access to public funds, work, study, or medical treatment in the UK is not allowed.

Eligibility requires one of the following: a valid visa or recent entry stamp (within six months) for the USA, Canada, Australia or New Zealand; a valid residence or permanent residency card for these countries; a valid Irish biometric visa when transiting to or from Ireland; or specific documents such as EEA residence permits or long-term visas. Physical documentation is mandatory, as electronic copies are not accepted, and exemptions apply for Syrian nationals with specific US visa categories.

The TWOV scheme offers an efficient transit option for travellers who meet these criteria. However, if you are unsure whether you require a visa to transit through the UK, contact us for expert advice and assistance to ensure compliance with UK immigration rules.
